From serving as a lifeline for the coastal communities in northern Norway, to transporting passengers on vacation in the Greek Isles.
Our goal is to contribute to a sustainable future, leading the way to zero emissions. With a portfolio consisting of a wide range of all-electric vessels, we have proven that things can be done in a more sustainable way. When shipping companies and operators demand green solutions, it propels the development of new technology and the phasing in of hybrid, electric and energy-efficient ships.
Today, environmental requirements are pushing the development of new technology and solutions. We believe in the importance of creating the best overall product for our customers, many of them operating in some of the world’s most unique surroundings. In addition, providing the best experience for passengers through quality, comfort, look and feel. We are committed to create world class, energy-efficient vessels, while we at the same time maintain the high level of operational functionality we are known for.
Built to last for decades
Research and development is incorporated in our company’s culture. We benefit from having the entire value chain in-house. Our diverse team composed of 30 some engineers push boundaries every day to build more energy-efficient vessels.
Brødrene Aa develops efficient fast ferries in carbon composite. Low weight leads to less energy being consumed, resulting in lower emissions and environmental footprint. Using carbon fiber as building material is a sustainable choice also due to its longevity. Free of corrision means less maintenance over the course of the ownership.
The development of battery technology is evolving at a rapid pace with suppliers producing lighter and more energy-dense units for commercial use.

At our yards we are continuously working to reduce waste generated from production processes. We do so by consistently handling our waste in ways where as much as possible can be turned into by-products.

From concept to delivery, we work closely with our customers to find the best solutions. When the vessel is handed over to the operator, our goal is to continue our work together with the owner to lower the industry’s environmental footprint even further.
Building advanced high-quality vessels is not enough. Maintaining the longterm value of the vessel requires high quality customer service and support. By offering good solutions for repair work, rebuilding or retrofitting, we do our best to make your investment last.
Refit to meet future demands
As the world keeps evolving, so do the external requirements and expectations towards our industry and the effects they have in our neighbouring communities. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to keep our vessels competing on a global scale for many years to come.
For years we have been looking for ways to extend the service life of our vessels. By upgrading engines, retrofitting hulls - even extending the overall length and offering more capacity - old vessels can be completely reinvented to meet new standards and satisfy market demands.
With our retrofitting services, we can modify, customize, modernize and restore existing vessels. Whether it be changes in regulations or the desire to upgrade, a retrofit may be necessary. Brødrene Aa has the experience and the expertise to do the refit, making your investment last even longer.
