Brødrene Aa achieves bonus from Norled after successful speed trials of build 273, Fjordbris.
The latest delivery from Brødrene Aa, build 273, Fjordbris, has been subject to great expectations ahead of launching. The 36m carbon fiber catamaran is a brand new model based on the hull lines of Paradis Nautica, similar to the 40m model used for build 263, Krilo Carbo. During test trials Fjordbris used 120 kW less power than guaranteed at 35 knots speed (20t DW), which is good news for the yard and the operator.
“After the successful delivery of Krilo Carbo we knew that the Paradis Nautica hull lines are very efficient, but it is always exciting with new models and we are glad that our predictions corresponded with the full scale tests, says Tor Øyvin Aa, managing director at Brødrene Aa.
Fjordbris is a 240 pax vessel powered by 4x MTU 10V2000 engines, equipped with CPP propellers from Servogear and designed for service speed of 35 knots. It features a broad gangway at the bow for efficient embarking of passengers, a well-equipped refreshment kiosk and a spacious passenger salon designed according to standards of universal design.
The 36m catamaran will be a new supplement to the already comprehensive range of carbon fibre vessels that Brødrene Aa offers. “We have now developed good solutions for a variety of passenger vessels, ranging from 50-400 passengers, including cars and cargo. We should therefore be able serve most of the operators who are looking for fuel- efficient fast ferries” says Tor Øyvin Aa.
