The multipurpose carbon fibre catamaran, M/S Tjelden, was handed over to Norled on the 17th of December 2013. M/S Tjelden is the tenth carbon fibre vessel Norled purchases from Brødrene Aa
M/S Tjelden has an overall length of 25,7m taking 48 passengers , two cars and cargo. It is powered by 2x Volvo Penta D13B / IPS 1050 operating at a service speed of 20 knots and a top speed of 29 knots.
The starting point for the design of Tjelden is the prior delivered vessels Solundir and Rygerøy. This concept has been extended in length in order accommodate both cars and cargo. The vessel is built according to HSC 2000 and extra attention has been given to fire safety due to the RO-RO capacity on this composite vessel.
MS Tjelden will be operating in Austevoll on the west coast of Norway.
